Guatemala is one of the worlds most undiscovered gems, rich with culture and breath taking scenery. An hour out of Guatemala City lies Antigua, the former capital. This small, inviting town is surrounded by three breathtaking volcanoes – Agua, Fuego and Acatenango. They provide a striking background to one of Guatemala’s most visited locations. Thousands of tourists, and locals, flock to Antigua to experience its relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Antigua has plenty to amuse both heart and mind. The center square is a common meeting place and the perfect location to people watch. Numerous benches hold wearied travelers, hard-working students or elderly Guatemalan men holding meaningless conversations. Lovers, children and tourists stop to stare at the ancient fountain in the center of the square.

Cerro de la Cruz (Look Out) In the hills north of Antigua is Cerro de la Cruz a large cross constructed on a hillside overlooking Antigua. This giant stone cross, from which there are sweeping views south over the city with Agua Volcano in the background. This is a great spot for a higher vantage point of the city, you can truly get an amazing view! Take advantage of the photo opportunity known as Cerro de la Cruz you will not be disappointed.
